Drawings
We're never going to have standard designs from what I saw of Zalpha's drawings and Naeko's mechanical ministrations, but between us we've looked at what we've done so far and wrote everything down.
IFB Craft
Glider MK1
A basic four-winged design that carries one pilot. It can be used to keep an eye on a wide area, launch signal flares to call in a response force, and perform a basic attack in the air. It normally comes with four rockets, one set of flares, and one repeating crossbow or bag of caltrops. Pilots can't be too pudgy or too tall, or they won't fit -- also, it seems to take a lot more effort to make a glider take off than to keep one in the air.
| Silk | Xeclo | Rope | Wood | Coal | Gold | Time | Crew | Load | Range | Weapons |
| 5 | 0 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 280 | 120 | 1(pilot) | 1 | 7+1/rocket | 4 rockets, 1 set of flares, 1 repeating crossbow or bag of caltrops |
Glider MK1-X
A basic glider as above, but with xeclo wings. Xeclo is lighter than even silk, while being stronger, so this should be good.
| Silk | Xeclo | Rope | Wood | Coal | Gold | Time | Crew | Load | Range | Weapons |
| 1 | 4 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 280 | 120 | 1(pilot) | 2 | 2+1/rocket | 4 rockets, 2 set of flares, 2 repeating crossbow or bags of caltrops |
Airship MK1
This is the best way for a Floral Brigade troop to reach an objective. With a good navigator, it's as fast as all but the swiftest horses and unlike even the best mount it can keep up the pace indefinitely. Oars are provided to maneuver while in the air, but a good knowledge of wind is what allows for fast movement. The gondola is made of cloth that wasn't suitable for the balloon, with wooden ribs and a wooden bottom to stop arrows. It should be possible to lift a glider with an airship, but we haven't tried yet. The gondola can float, although it will take in water and someone'll have to bucket it out!
| Silk | Xeclo | Rope | Wood | Coal | Gold | Time | Crew | Load | Range | Weapons |
| 20 | 0 | 20 | 20 | 10 | 1560 | 360 | 10(pilot,fireman, 8 warriors/oarsmen) | 2 | 2+2/fuel | None fixed, but crew can shoot or throw weights from the gondola |
Airship MK2
A specialized design for high altitudes. The cost mainly comes from a Decanter of Endless Air used to keep the crew and the furnace breathing in the thin atmosphere. Another special need that this design has is
two scavenged Warlock's Wheels from Enemy craft. The MK2 can fire a large rocket horizontally, and reach almost to the magical barrier that seems to exist right below the top of the World-Mountain. The gondola is
fully enclosed, with mesh or glass viewports and a large leather hood. The MK2 has in fact two envelopes, in order to allow the rocket to be carried vertically.
| Silk | Xeclo | Rope | Wood | Coal | Gold | Time | Crew | Load | Range | Weapons |
| 20 | 20 | 20 | 10 | 20 | 9001 | 300 | 10(pilot,fireman, 8 warriors) | 2 | 2+2/fuel | None fixed, but crew can shoot or throw weights from the gondola. There is room for a large rocket to be launched horizontally. |
Balloon (Small)
A balloon can't move, is a huge target, and requires a lot of rope to be anchored to the ground. However it would take an expert marksman to take out the basket, it can be towed by mules or camels, and it does a great job of keeping an eye on an area, especially given how scrying has been somewhat less effective lately. It's also a good spot to station a marksman in! A larger balloon can probably lift a glider; a small balloon can be used that way, but not very well as it has to be overfilled, then launched without a basket, then allowed to float down after the glider went -- it worked the one time we tried it, so there's that). The basket can float.
| Silk | Xeclo | Rope | Wood | Coal | Gold | Time | Crew | Load | Range | Weapons |
| 10 | 0 | 30 | 5 | 0 | 50 | 240 | 2(spotter, sniper) | 40 | 4 coal/day | Design allows shooting off flares; tow rope can be used? |
Enemy Craft
Falling Star
Not a star at all; these rocks have been hollowed out and resealed. Some think that they come from the sky, some from the summit of the World Mountain, some from the Iron Star, some from a different plane. We don't know. Remia says stars are holes in the sky to the Plane of Fire, Naeko says that each is a mass of incandescent gas. Resources indicated show resources that can be ideally gathered from a wreckage.
| Silk | Xeclo | Rope | Wood | Coal | Gold | Time | Crew | Loot | Range | Notes |
| 0 | 10 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 3(protobolds) | Hand weapons, iron rations? | Cannot take off again | Careful salvage |
| 0 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3(protobolds) | Hand weapons, iron rations? | Cannot take off again | Looting |
Swirling Saucer
A contraption composed of a xeclo airscrew suspending a bowl-shaped construction of canvas and wood below. It excels at diving and climbing, but it's not very maneuverable. It may hold a flame weapon, although that has only been seen as a way to climb extraordinarily high or self-destruct if downed. Resources indicated show resources that can be ideally gathered from a wreckage.
| Silk | Xeclo | Rope | Wood | Coal | Gold | Time | Crew | Loot | Range | Notes |
| 0 | 4 | 2 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 10 | 8(protobolds) | Hand weapons, obsidian shard canister sling | ? Good climb, poor gliding | Careful salvage |
| 0 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 8(protobolds) | Hand weapons | ? Good climb, poor gliding | Looting |
